Description

Taiyaki is a fun and delicious Japanese fish-shaped cake that features delightful fillings, perfect for snacks or dessert.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • Sweet red bean paste or other fillings (chocolate, custard, etc.)


Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  2. In another bowl, whisk together the milk, egg, and vegetable oil.
  3. Combine the wet ingredients with the dry ingredients and mix until smooth.
  4. Preheat a taiyaki mold and lightly grease it.
  5. Pour a small amount of batter into the mold, add your desired filling, then cover with more batter.
  6. Close the mold and cook on low heat for about 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  7. Remove from the mold and serve warm.

Notes

Best served warm. Can be dusted with powdered sugar or paired with ice cream.
