Description

A comforting and easy meal featuring tender beef and fresh broccoli in a rich sauce, made effortlessly in a crock pot.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups beef stock
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil
  • 4 cloves minced garlic
  • 1.5 pounds sirloin steak or boneless beef chuck roast, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup frozen broccoli florets
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • Cooked white rice for serving
  • Optional: sesame seeds or chopped green onions for garnish


Instructions

  1. In the insert of a 6-quart crock pot, whisk together beef stock, soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, and minced garlic until well combined.
  2. Place the thinly sliced beef into the sauce mixture, tossing to coat.
  3. Cover and cook on low heat for about 5 hours until the beef is tender.
  4. In a small bowl, whisk the cornstarch and water to create a slurry.
  5. Pour the slurry into the slow cooker and stir well.
  6. Scatter frozen broccoli florets over the beef and sauce, stirring gently.
  7. Cover and cook for an additional 30 minutes on low.
  8. Serve the beef and broccoli over warm cooked white rice, garnished with sesame seeds or green onions if desired.

Notes

Use fresh garlic and quality beef for enhanced flavor. Feel free to add more vegetables like bell peppers or snap peas.
