Description

A fun twist on traditional French toast, featuring rolled bread that’s crispy on the outside and soft on the inside.

Ingredients

  • 8 slices of crustless bread
  • 1 egg
  • 3 tablespoons of milk
  • 1 tablespoon of liquid cream
  • 1 knob of butter
  • 1 teaspoon of liquid vanilla
  • 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
  • 100 grams of sugar

Instructions

  1. Use a rolling pin to flatten the slices of bread.
  2. Roll each flattened slice of bread tightly.
  3. In a bowl, beat the egg with the milk, cream, and vanilla.
  4. Dip the rolled bread in the egg mixture.
  5. In a hot skillet, add the knob of butter and cook the rolls on each side until they are lightly golden.
  6. For the glaze, mix the sugar and cinnamon together.
  7. Dip the cooked rolls in the sugar and cinnamon mix. Serve them warm with coffee.

Notes

Serve warm with a dusting of powdered sugar or a drizzle of maple syrup. Use day-old bread for better results and feel free to add fresh fruit inside the roll.
