Description

Delicious mini apple pies filled with warm, sugary apple filling wrapped in a flaky crust, perfect for gatherings or a special dessert at home.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups diced apples
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp allspice
  • 1/4 tsp ginger
  • Pinch of salt
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 package premade pie dough
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tbsp milk or cream
  • Coarse brown sugar for sprinkling

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine diced apples, brown sugar, ground cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, ginger, and a pinch of salt. Add in unsalted butter, vanilla extract, and cornstarch slurry; mix until apples are coated.
  2. Dust workspace with flour and roll out the premade pie dough until smooth.
  3. Use a round cutter or glass to cut out circles from the dough; you need two circles for each mini pie.
  4. Place a dough circle in each muffin tin slot, spoon a small amount of apple filling into the center, cover with another dough circle, and seal edges by crimping with a fork.
  5. Beat together egg and milk to create an egg wash; brush on top of each mini pie and sprinkle with coarse brown sugar.
  6. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and bake mini pies for 20-25 minutes, until golden brown.

Notes

Serve warm or with vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, or caramel drizzle. Store in an airtight container; good for 2 days at room temperature, up to a week in the refrigerator, or freeze for 3 months.
