Description
A classic favorite banana bread recipe that’s simple to make and perfect for breakfast, snacks, or dessert.
Ingredients
- 3 to 4 ripe bananas, mashed
- 1/2 cup melted butter
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 and 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F and prepare a 9×5-inch loaf pan by greasing it or lining it with parchment paper.
- Mash the ripe bananas in a large mixing bowl.
- Add the melted butter to the mashed bananas and mix until smooth.
- Incorporate the sugar and mix until the mixture becomes smooth and slightly lighter in color.
- Crack in the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition, and stir in the vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
- Gradually add the dry mixture to the banana mixture, mixing just until the flour disappears.
- If using, fold in the chopped nuts.
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and spread it evenly.
- Bake for 55 to 65 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean or with a few moist crumbs.
Notes
Use very ripe bananas for the best flavor. You can also add chocolate chips or dried fruit for an extra twist.
