Description

A classic favorite banana bread recipe that’s simple to make and perfect for breakfast, snacks, or dessert.


Ingredients

  • 3 to 4 ripe bananas, mashed
  • 1/2 cup melted butter
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 and 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)


Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and prepare a 9×5-inch loaf pan by greasing it or lining it with parchment paper.
  2. Mash the ripe bananas in a large mixing bowl.
  3. Add the melted butter to the mashed bananas and mix until smooth.
  4. Incorporate the sugar and mix until the mixture becomes smooth and slightly lighter in color.
  5. Crack in the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition, and stir in the vanilla extract.
  6. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  7. Gradually add the dry mixture to the banana mixture, mixing just until the flour disappears.
  8. If using, fold in the chopped nuts.
  9. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and spread it evenly.
  10. Bake for 55 to 65 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean or with a few moist crumbs.

Notes

Use very ripe bananas for the best flavor. You can also add chocolate chips or dried fruit for an extra twist.
