Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 3 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 1/2 cups whole milk


Instructions

  1. Gather all of your ingredients and equipment.
  2. Sift together the dry ingredients—flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar—into a large bowl.
  3. Make a well in the middle of the dry mix. Add the wet ingredients: the egg, milk, and melted butter.
  4. Lightly whisk the batter together until just mixed. Let it sit for 5 minutes.
  5. Add a tablespoon of vegetable oil to the skillet. Heat on medium-high.
  6. Add 1/4 cup of pancake batter to the skillet.
  7. Cook until bubbles form on the surface and edges are dry.
  8. Flip the pancake and cook for 1-2 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Serve hot with butter, powdered sugar, and maple syrup.

Notes

Do not overmix the batter for best results. For extra fluffiness, let the batter rest longer.
