Description
Soft, fluffy dinner rolls bursting with delicious garlic butter flavor, perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
- 1 cup whole milk, warm (240g)
- 3 teaspoons active dry yeast or instant yeast
- 1/3 cup sugar (70g)
- 3 3/4 cup all-purpose flour (490g)
- 1 large egg
- 1.5 teaspoons salt
- 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened at room temperature (85g)
- 1 egg yolk and 1 tablespoon milk (for egg wash)
- 1/4 cup salted butter (57g)
- 2-3 garlic cloves, finely chopped
- 1-2 tablespoons freshly chopped parsley
Instructions
- In a large bowl, stir together the warm milk and the yeast.
- Add all the other ingredients for the dinner rolls to the same bowl.
- Use a large spoon to mix until the ingredients form a shaggy dough.
- Turn the dough out onto a clean surface. Knead the dough with your palms for about 15 minutes until it becomes smooth and stretchy.
- Transfer the dough to a clean bowl that has been sprayed with oil. Cover with cling wrap and place it in a warm spot to rise until it doubles in size (about 90 minutes).
- Once risen, punch down the dough and turn it out onto a clean surface. Divide it into 12 equal pieces.
- Roll each piece into a tight ball and place them on a lined baking sheet.
- In a small bowl, mix the egg yolk and milk for the egg wash. Brush generously over the rolls.
- Let the rolls rise again in a warm spot for 30-45 minutes until puffy.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (conventional) in the last 20 minutes of rising.
- After the rolls have risen, brush them again with the egg wash and bake for 20-22 minutes until golden brown.
- To make the garlic butter, melt the butter in a saucepan, add chopped garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes, then stir in the parsley.
- Brush the hot rolls with the garlic butter immediately after they come out of the oven. Serve and enjoy!
