Ingredients
- 4 pounds beef short ribs
- 1 onion, chopped
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 cup red wine (optional)
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon tomato paste
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh herbs (like thyme or rosemary) for garnish
Instructions
- Season the beef short ribs with salt and pepper.
- In a hot skillet, sear the ribs on all sides until browned, about 3-4 minutes per side.
- In the crockpot, combine the chopped onion, garlic, beef broth, red wine, soy sauce, brown sugar, and tomato paste.
- Add the seared short ribs to the crockpot, ensuring they are covered with the sauce.
- Cook on low for 480 minutes (8 hours) or high for 240 minutes (4 hours) until the meat is tender and falls off the bone.
- Once done, remove the ribs and set aside.
- Strain the sauce and simmer it on the stove to thicken if desired.
- Serve the ribs with the sauce drizzled over and garnish with fresh herbs.
