Description

A delightful twist combining the sweet flavors of cinnamon rolls with the comforting taste of apple pie, perfect for family gatherings or a special treat.

Ingredients

  • 1 21oz can apple pie filling
  • 1 package cinnamon rolls with frosting (refrigerated)
  • 4 medium apples (peeled, cored, and chopped or sliced)
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 3 tablespoons water
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch (plus 1 teaspoon)
  • 2 tablespoons water

Instructions

  1. In a pan, melt the butter over medium heat.
  2. Add the chopped or sliced apples, sugar, cinnamon, 3 tablespoons of water, and 1 tablespoon of cornstarch. Cook for about 5-7 minutes until the apples are slightly soft. Remove from heat and set aside.
  3. Preheat your oven according to cinnamon roll package instructions.
  4. Open the package of cinnamon rolls and set aside the frosting for later.
  5. Roll out the cinnamon rolls into a flat layer in a pie dish, connecting them to make a crust.
  6. Pour the apple filling evenly over the cinnamon roll crust.
  7. Sprinkle a little cinnamon on top if desired.
  8. Bake according to the cinnamon roll package instructions or until the cinnamon roll crust is golden brown.
  9. Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes.
  10. Drizzle the frosting over the warm pie before serving.

Notes

Serve warm, ideally with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3-4 days.
