A warm, comforting dish that combines sweet apples and earthy butternut squash, perfect for Thanksgiving celebrations.
Ingredients
- 2 cups butternut squash, peeled and diced
- 2 cups apples, peeled and sliced
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/4 cup maple syrup
- 2 tablespoons butter, melted
- 1/4 cup walnuts, chopped (optional)
- 1/4 cup raisins (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, combine the butternut squash and apples.
- In a separate bowl, mix together the brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, maple syrup, and melted butter.
- Pour the mixture over the squash and apples, and stir until fully coated.
- Transfer to a baking dish and sprinkle with walnuts and raisins if using.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the squash is tender.
- Serve warm as a delightful Thanksgiving dessert.
Notes
For an extra treat, top with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
