Description
A classic comfort food that’s simple to make and perfect for using up overripe bananas. Ideal for snacks, breakfast, or dessert.
Ingredients
- 3 ripe bananas, mashed
- 1/3 cup melted butter
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- Pinch of salt
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1 large egg, beaten
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 4×8 inch loaf pan.
- In a mixing bowl, mash the ripe bananas with a fork until smooth. Stir the melted butter into the mashed bananas.
- Mix in the baking soda and salt.
- Stir in the sugar, beaten egg, and vanilla extract.
- Mix in the flour until just incorporated. If using, fold in the chopped nuts.
- Pour the batter into the greased loaf pan.
- Bake for 60-65 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. Then, transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
Use overripe bananas for the best flavor. Don’t overmix the batter for a tender bread. Can add chocolate chips or dried fruit for a twist.
